POPVOX FOUNDATION - DEPARTURE DIALOGUES PROJECT (2025)​ The POPVOX Foundation’s Departure Dialogues is a nonpartisan national project designed to capture reflections from departing federal employees to preserve the institutional knowledge that often leaves government with them. By collecting these firsthand insights across agencies and disciplines, the project helps inform Congress and policymakers as they consider how to strengthen statutes, modernize programs, and improve how government serves the American people.

OUR CONTRIBUTION. EM Disaster Solutions contributed to the pilot round of Departure Dialogues through the participation of an EMDS team member who previously served in the federal government—a core qualifier for the initiative. In the recorded reflection, we discussed how statutory frameworks such as FEMA’s Stafford Act shape the agency’s ability to support communities during disasters, and how strengthening this framework can help ensure consistent, effective assistance from FEMA’s workforce when deployed. Our contribution underscores the importance of capturing frontline operational insights to support more responsive policymaking in emergency management. We pride ourselves on building teams composed of individuals with the highest qualifications, bringing together academic rigor and industry expertise. Half of our team comprises renowned scholars with doctoral degrees widely recognized for their scientific contributions and groundbreaking research. THE QUIET PAUSE (2025 - PRESENT)​ @thequietpause is a YouTube channel dedicated to providing guided meditations and relaxation techniques designed to help individuals find moments of calm and clarity in their daily lives. With a focus on mindfulness and mental well-being, The Quiet Pause offers a variety of meditations aimed at reducing stress and promoting inner peace.

Recognizing the profound impact of mental health on disaster survivors, EM Disaster Solutions has partnered with The Quiet Pause team to offer survivors accessible tools for emotional support. This collaboration integrates guided meditations into our readiness toolkit, providing a safe space for individuals to pause and breathe during challenging times. By combining EM Disaster Solutions' expertise in disaster management with The Quiet Pause's mindfulness resources, our collective goal is to foster holistic recovery and empower communities to rebuild with strength and serenity.
NATIONAL HAZARD MITIGATION ASSOCIATION (2024 - 2025)​ The NHMA is a nonprofit organization that promotes hazard risk reduction and climate adaptation through national, state and local level expertise and experience in mitigation, emergency management, and related professions through education, training, planning, and technical projects and activities. The NHMA promotes steps to reduce the risk and consequences of natural events with a special emphasis on protecting the most vulnerable populations in our communities.

OUR ROLE. EM Disaster Solutions provided comprehensive Program Management support to NHMA, leading efforts to deliver disaster risk reduction (DRR) training for practitioners nationwide. Through our role, we helped manage and scale initiatives that enhance the capabilities of hazard mitigation professionals at all levels—ensuring that DRR education reaches federal, local, and state agencies, nonprofits, and academic institutions working across the disaster lifecycle. Our work helped bridge the gap between research and real-world application, strengthening the hazard mitigation profession, and expanding access to DRR education across career-adjacent fields.
